Hit-and-run accident kills teen motorcyclist

On Behalf of | Jun 13, 2023 | Motorcycle Accidents

When an accident with vehicle damage or injuries to the occupants occurs, those involved in the accident are required to remain at the scene. Many hit-and-run accidents happen in Tennessee, which can leave accident victims waiting for medical assistance for longer than necessary. Drivers may flee an accident because they are afraid of facing charges, not realizing that when they are eventually caught, more serious charges may be filed against them. Tragically, a teenager was recently killed in a motorcycle accident and the other driver has still not been located.

Details of the accident

This two-vehicle crash occurred in Madison late on a Thursday night. A 17-year-old male was riding a motorcycle near the intersection of Gallatin Pike and Old Hickory Boulevard West. The motorcycle collided with an SUV, causing the teen to be thrown from the bike. He was taken to a local hospital but died from his injuries.

Authorities believe that the SUV driver stopped at the accident scene but fled before being questioned about what happened. The motorcycle was believed to have been traveling at a high rate of speed. Authorities will continue to investigate to determine if the driver of the SUV was negligent, contributing to the deadly crash.  The driver of the SUV could also face charges related to fleeing the scene of an accident with injuries.

Accident victims are not alone

Many accident victims or loved ones of victims feel alone after such a life-changing event. They may not know where to turn for help or understand that they have legal rights. Tennessee accident victims, or their family members, can seek advice from an experienced attorney to know what options they have in seeking compensation from the driver believed to have caused the crash.
