Even the most cautious driver can be involved in an accident on Tennessee roads. When other drivers don’t follow the laws, many times innocent lives could be at risk if a serious crash occurs. Head-on collisions, like the one that happened recently in Madisonville, often leave victims with life-threatening injuries. Sadly, a man died in that crash. The driver believed to be responsible is now facing charges.

The cause of the accident

This fatal crash occurred on New Highway 68 on a Tuesday morning. A 33-year-old woman was traveling in the northbound lane when she struck an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle, a 36-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was later pronounced dead. The other driver and her passenger, along with a passenger, all suffered injuries described as minor.

The woman who is believed to have caused the accident is now facing charges. Sadly, the loved ones of the deceased victim are left to mourn him after his unexpected death. If evidence of negligence exists, the family may choose to file a civil lawsuit against the driver that appears to have caused the crash.

Legal help for accident victims and families

When someone is seriously injured or killed in a motor vehicle accident, the unexpectedness of the situation can leave the victim or surviving family members in shock. Fatal accidents often leave families with unexpected expenses for medical bills, funeral costs and other accident-related financial obligations. While no amount of money can bring back a loved one, a successful civil lawsuit against a negligent driver can help ease the financial burden. Tennesseans who find themselves in such a situation after a car accident can learn more about their options by speaking with an attorney.
